Client:

Duration:
11 weeks
Contract Value:
$ 1.1m
Scope
- Utah Road, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, is a key access route to the Utah Point Bulk Handling Facility within the Port of Port Hedland. It connects the Great Northern Highway to the Utah Point facility, which is a multi-user port used for exporting iron ore and other minerals. Utah Road also provides access to other port facilities like BHP’s Finucane Island and Roy Hill.
- The existing pavement built in 2009 was now carrying a significantly higher traffic loading than originally designed resulting in rapid deterioration and pavement failures,
- This project was the final stage in the rehabilitation of the 24/7 live access road where Stabilised Pavements of Australia were engaged to provide a Foam Bitumen treatment of the existing pavement ensuring:
- A construction time significantly quicker than a traditional overlay
- A more cost effective option utilising the existing formations resources
Ability to run traffic on the constructed pavement at the end of each shift
- This method and treatment achieved the required design performance and enabled for the road operation and performance to continue with no disruption to the flow of product into the facility.
